We want to add a text description to our videos and are trying to figure if it can be included within the embed code. If this is true, can we incorporate text into the embed code and have it replace the video that may already be public?

Sha,

Thanks for reaching out on this. When we released the new Matador player a couple months ago (http://wistia.com/blog/introducing-wistias-new-player/), we made the volume control an option that could be turned on and off. By default, the volume control is set to "off". The reason for this is that these days almost all computers have keyboard volume controls..and furthermore most* people, we have found prefer to control their volume universally rather than on each player that they might be using. This is something that is an option regardless of the embed type.

Each publisher makes the decision on whether to use the volume control or not. In this case, SEOMoz has elected not to use the volume control. I will personally follow up with them directly and provide your feedback.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

*but not all

Hi Ben,

Great timing for this post as I think this might be related to a question I posed recently.

As an avid weekly viewer of Whiteboard Friday at SEOmoz, I noticed with mild irritation that the cool and convenient little volume control on the video embed disappeared a couple of fridays ago :(

Since I like the convenience of being able to adjust volume in the embed instead of messing with my system settings and having to adjust them back later, I asked SEOmoz why there was no longer a volume control on the video. Their answer was that they don't know, since they have not changed the way that they embed the videos.

Given the timing of this post, I'm now wondering if the change is a result of some alteration to the features available with the embed type used at SEOmoz?

Can you solve the mystery for me?

Shawn,

All embed types (including SEO) support HTML5. So no matter which type you choose for your specific application, we've got you covered on the HTML5 front!

So basically you are stating that if we want video SEO that we need to use the SEO Embed, which is like the old HTML embed.

And if we use the SEO Super Embed, we don't get HTML5 support?
