Import from Descript

Connect Descript and Wistia to import both video and audio content.

What is Descript?

Descript is a collaborative audio and video editor. It includes transcription, a screen recorder, publishing, full multitrack editing, as well as AI tools.

How it works

When you’re ready to share your media to Wistia, you’ll need to publish it within Descript first. Once you hit publish, processing and encoding will begin in Descript.

Pro-Tip

Depending on the size of the project, this could result in longer wait times to export to Wistia. So, depending on your timeline, be sure to publish early!

When your media has finished publishing, you’ll then be able to share it to Wistia directly from within Descript. Click the “Share” button in Descript, and then select “Wistia” in the popup modal, from under “Cloud export.”

When your media is importing to Wistia, you’ll see a page indicating that the import is in progress.

Note

If your media is still encoding with Descript, this page will stick around a bit longer.

Pro-Tip

You can leave this page while the import is still processing and the media will continue to upload!

Once the media has finished encoding and has been imported into Wistia, you’ll be brought to its Wistia media page, and Wistia will then begin its encoding process.

Note

If you have a transcript or captions in Descript, these will automatically be uploaded and pulled into Wistia!
