Get your video looking sharp! Perfectly tailor your video's visual style in the Appearance tab.
The Customize panel should be your first stop when making a Wistia video your own. Changing the appearance of your video and making some decisions about the look of the Wistia media page is super easy thanks to the Appearance tab.
To get to themenu, you'll want to navigate to the video you'd like to customize. From the menu, select Customize.
In thetab, you can choose your thumbnail, update the player color, and turn comments on or off.
First, you'll want to make sure the thumbnail is the one you want (and doesn't reveal any video spoilers!).
Next, the player color should reflect your branding, to encourage more consistency in your viewers' experience.
Finally—you can choose whether visitors to the video page will have the option to leave comments.
Video still, poster image, first frame... we've heard all sorts of terms for the image that appears when the page loads, before your viewers begin watching. We call it the thumbnail.
By default, our system selects the middle frame of the video. But sometimes this can catch the speaker in mid-sentence, or can reveal something about the content you want to keep a secret!
To change it, select one of two options: Upload a new image (one you have carefully crafted) or Use the current frame—which means you want the frame that is currently showing in your video to the right.
Below is a quick screencast to show you the thumbnail update moves.
We've got lots of tips for picking the perfect thumbnail, but if you're uploading a custom thumbnail, you might be curious about the right size. Don't worry, we've got you covered!
We recommend uploading a thumbnail that's the same size as your original video. Wistia creates high-quality thumbnails, so there's no need to worry about optimizing your images.
If you're confused about the size of your original video (or you simply forgot), you can check by selecting Download from themenu.
Updating the player color is the simplest way to make the Wistia player your own. From the Customize panel, just select the color you'd like from the color picker. You can also input a hexadecimal color to get your branding perfectly on point.👌
By default, viewers of your content will be able to leave comments. To disable this functionality, open the Customize panel, and under thetab, un-check the Enable comments checkbox.
To disable comments across all videos, check out the project defaults section.
If you'd like to update your email preferences (to skip getting a new email whenever there's a new comment), just head to your account settings.
Looking to make sure you're leaving a comment at the exact right spot? Click on the Link comment to current time in video option to time-stamp your comment.
Next up... let's update those player controls.
