Sunsetting Soapbox

Alert
The video recording power of Soapbox is now available natively in Wistia. Check out the article below to learn more.

As we bring the video recording capabilities of Soapbox into Wistia, we’ll be gradually phasing out support for Soapbox. Our plan is to fully retire Soapbox by September 1, 2024.

Feature Comparison

You might be wondering, “Does Wistia’s new recording tool have everything Soapbox has to offer?” The honest answer is, not just yet. But here’s the good news — we’re hard at work enhancing our native recording and editing capabilities, and we’re confident we’ll soon have everything you need to make the switch to Wistia’s native recording.

Switching from Soapbox to Wistia’s Native Video Recording

If you’re currently using Soapbox and want to switch to Wistia’s native video recording, you can do so anytime. First, create a new Project in your Wistia account for your Soapbox recordings.

Then, head on over to Soapbox and decide what you’d like to do with your videos. You have two options:

  1. Download and reupload. This option makes it so that you can order transcripts, edit your videos, and take more actions than you can when you export directly from Soapbox to Wistia. We made downloading available for all Soapbox users so you should have access today.
  2. Export from Soapbox to Wistia (this option could be easier, but you will lose some functionality). a. Select the Soapbox video you want to move and go to the “Share” tab. b. Click “Export to Wistia” and connect your Soapbox account to Wistia if necessary. c. Sign in to your Wistia account and choose the Project you created for your Soapbox recordings from the drop-down menu. d. Click Export to Wistia and repeat!

Remember, you can still access your Soapbox account until September 1, 2024, so there’s no need to rush. We’ll send you more tips and guidance on how to save and migrate your Soapbox videos before that date.

If you currently have a paid Soapbox account and you’re interested in moving your whole team over to Wistia’s native video recording, let us know! We’re here to help.

Cancelling your Soapbox Account

When you’re ready, you can cancel your Soapbox subscription by navigating to “Manage My Plan” from the settings drop-down menu and selecting “Cancel.”

It’s important to note that you’ll retain access to your Soapbox account through September 1, 2024, so there’s no need to move all of your recordings to Wistia at once. We’ll be in touch as that date approaches with helpful guidance on how to prioritize saving and migrating your Soapbox videos.
