Frequently asked questions

  • How does Wistia’s MCP server work?

Wistia’s MCP server lets you manage your entire video library from your agent—everything from video uploads to performance analysis. We’re always adding new functionality, so the best way to know what you can do is to ask the agent. If there’s a task the MCP server can’t handle, your agent will give you detailed instructions on how to tackle it in the Wistia app.

  • How do I set up Wistia’s MCP server?

Connect to Wistia through your agent directory or just copy and paste your access token (details here). You only need to set it up once. After that, you can keep accessing the MCP server unless you opt to disconnect.
  • Can anyone on my team access the MCP?

Currently, only Account Owners and Managers can access the MCP. Each user has to log in to their agent of choice and establish a connection with their Wistia account.

  • Will the MCP server assume control of my Wistia account?

Nope, the bots won’t take over. By default, the MCP server requires approval for all tasks. You can change that setting to always approve or blocked. Update the settings anytime, right in your agent.

  • Which plans have access to Wistia’s MCP server?

All Wistia accounts have access to Wistia’s MCP server. Any features you use in Wistia’s app can be operated out of your agent with Wistia’s MCP server—no upgrade needed. You only need to upgrade your plan if you want to access more features.
