Soon, we’re going to be launching Customize, a big update to the Wistia application. This has been in development for quite a while now, and we’re really excited to share it with you!

Customize helps us better execute on our vision to empower everyone to communicate and drive business using video. However, it does affect current workflows, so we wanted to make sure our experienced users are well prepared for the shift.

There’s nothing you need to do right now …  except get excited!

Customize Training Session

We are currently in the final stages of testing and the goal is to launch Customize within the next three weeks. Max K. and Jordan will be hosting a live Customize Training Session to walk through the changes right after the launch. Read on to learn more about what Customize will look like and how it will affect the Wistia app!

Why Customize?

When we introduced the SuperEmbed Builder way back in 2012, we were stoked about all the tools and customization options that could now be easily added to a video embed. But then we started thinking, “building powerful embeds is fun, but what if we could customize the videos themselves without having to switch out the embed code every time?”

That harmless little question was the beginning of Customize. Many months and Schnur hours later, we are very close to retiring the SuperEmbed Builder and replacing it with an even more powerful system.

What does this mean for you?

  • Powerful tools like Turnstile email collection and calls-to-action will be available for videos in your account, not just embedded videos.
  • Any changes you make to the customizations in your account will automatically update anywhere your video is embedded.
  • Embed codes will be simpler, which makes them more resilient and less likely to cause problems, no matter where you’re putting them.

Questions and Feedback

Changes to an existing product are always tough, especially changes in workflows like this one. That’s why we decided to do this “pre-launch” announcement as a way of prepping you for the update. If we’ve done our job, you’re more excited than terrified …  but if you do have lingering concerns, please add your thoughts in the comments, register for the webinar, or contact the customer happiness team directly.

Hold on to your hats, this ride is going to be a blast!
