Publish to Social: Now with LinkedIn and Stats

Share your videos natively to LinkedIn and keep tabs on your social stats with this exciting product update.

In July of last year, we introduced our Publish to Social feature, which enables you to share your Wistia videos natively to Facebook and YouTube (without having to navigate away from your account).

We love this feature because it allows marketers to quickly and easily share videos across multiple channels, streamlining the social publishing process. And while the response to this new feature was super positive, we got a lot of feedback about what you’d like to see in the next iteration:

Well, you asked and we delivered! In addition to YouTube and Facebook, you can now publish videos natively to LinkedIn. Plus, you’ll see social stats for each video — like views, shares, likes, and comments — all from within your Wistia account. Cool, huh? We love this feature, and we want to share a little bit about why we think it’s important and how you can use it to make your life easier as a social-savvy marketer.

Publish natively to social media for better results

As marketers ourselves, we know the positive impact video can have on your social media marketing efforts. And with social media platforms prioritizing their native publishing methods over links or other uploads, it can be annoying — and time consuming — for marketers to manually upload every video to each platform to give them the best chance of being seen.

That’s why we felt it was really important to give our users the ability to easily publish their videos without sacrificing the perks of native uploads. Ultimately, we wanted to make social sharing of your videos both easier to do and easier to track. With our Publish to Social feature, you no longer have to worry about manually uploading each video to LinkedIn, Facebook, or YouTube to ensure you’ll garner more views, get better engagement, and benefit from more shares. Oh, and did we mention you can measure all of those results for each video, in one place? What’s not to like? In all seriousness, let’s dive into why we chose LinkedIn and what you can do with this new update.

Get set up with LinkedIn

LinkedIn originally launched their native video uploads in 2017, but we’re super excited to be one of the first video marketing platforms to actually offer this integration. And, the best part is, it’s super simple to publish videos from your Wistia account to your company’s LinkedIn page.

How to connect your account

If you’re new to using our Publish to Social feature, then you need to connect your social accounts to Wistia, first! Luckily, it’s super simple. Here’s how it works:

If you’re the Account Owner, all you need to do is:

  1. Head on over to “Account” → “Settings” → “Integrations.”
  2. Then, under “Social Media Integrations,” select whichever social platform you’d like to post to (Facebook, YouTube, and now, LinkedIn!)
  3. Next, you’ll be asked to allow your users to publish videos to this social platform.
  4. That’s it! This is the step where you bask in your super simple social media-posting glory (say that five times fast).

How to use Publish to Social

Once you’ve integrated your social accounts with Wistia, you can now publish your videos to social! Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to “Video Actions” → “Embed & Share” → then select “Publish to Social.”
  2. Second, choose the social platform for posting.
  3. Add a title and description, and voila! You’re ready to share your video.

Track how each video performs on multiple platforms

It can be challenging to get an overarching view of each of your video’s performance on social if you have to log into different platforms and combine your data to get the results. (Ugh, not another spreadsheet!) With Publish to Social Stats, you can see how individual videos perform on different platforms, right within Wistia!

For each video you’ve shared to social, you can see the number of views, shares, likes, and comments from LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. Here’s where to find the info in your account!

How to find your stats

If you’ve already integrated Facebook and YouTube with your Wistia account, simply:

  1. Click on any video you’ve shared to social.
  2. Then, click on “Stats.”
  3. Look for the tab called “Social” and then click that, too!
  4. Analyze your views, likes, comments, and shares for that video for all the platforms you’ve shared your video.

You can use these stats to get an idea of:

  • What drives the most engagement
  • What video length drives the most views
  • What type of content generates the most likes
  • Which videos prompt the most discussion from your viewers via comments

When it comes to social media video optimization, analyzing these metrics will give you a pretty good idea of how your content is working and how you can adjust your strategy in the future!
