We just made some exciting demand generation-focused updates to our email capture feature, Turnstile.

Marketing

As marketers, we’re always looking for creative ways to grow an audience while keeping them engaged for the long haul. It should come as no surprise that one of our favorite ways to tackle this task is with video content creation — we’re a video software company after all! But as it turns out, we’re not the only ones who think video is a crucial tactic for growing and maintaining an engaged audience.

In fact, according to G2 Crowd, a whopping 70% of marketers planned to use more video in 2018! Woah, that’s a spicy meatball … er, lot of marketers! And as more marketers lean heavily on video for lead generation, we’re thinking a ton about how we can make their lives easier. That’s prompted us to make some pretty important (and super exciting) changes to our product.

So, without further ado, here are our latest updates that all users can start enjoying today. Soon enough, you’ll be well on your way to customizing your very own demand generation efforts!

Customize your submit button language

One huge improvement that’s been a long time coming is button copy customization. Thanks to this update, you can now decide what the text on your “submit” button says on our Turnstile feature. You can use multiple languages, emojis, or whatever clever copy your team dreams up — so many options to explore. This enhancement also gives you the opportunity to align your Turnstile form copy with your brand voice and tone — no matter what that looks or sounds like.

  1. Log in to your Wistia account.
  2. Navigate to the Media page of the video you’d like to update.
  3. Open the Customize panel.
  4. Click on “Turnstile.”
  5. Boom. Update the button copy to your liking.
  6. Click “Save.”

With more control over your button copy, you can use language to help your audience take action. Be as direct, or casual as you want. Your button. Your rules!

Display your form on hover

If you’re into form flexibility, then we think you’re going to love our new “display on hover” setting. This update gives you the ability to collect leads without interrupting the viewer experience — what could be better?

Here’s how it all works: When a viewer hovers their mouse over one of your videos, the form appears (like magic!) from the left-hand side. This allows your content to continue playing, uninterrupted, while your contacts have the opportunity to enter their emails.

What about mobile? So glad you asked. This feature works very similarly on mobile, however, the form appears when the user taps the video player, not on hover (no such thing!). Pretty simple, right?

Here’s how it looks in action:

Nothing is more annoying than an intrusive email-gate experience. That’s why we think this new Turnstile functionality will help marketers collect more emails, in a friendlier, more flexible way.

How to get started

Want your Turnstile to appear on hover? It’s easy; simply:

  1. Navigate to the Media page of the video you’d like to update.
  2. Open the Customize panel.
  3. Click on “Turnstile.”
  4. Select the Overlay on hover button.
  5. Customize the copy.
  6. Click “Save!”
  7. Optional: Bask in the hover-state glory.

Invite users to events from your video with Eventbrite

When we asked for your feedback about event registration, we discovered that our old experience was a little bit, well … clunky (to put it nicely). In the past, when a viewer watched a video, they would have to click on a link in order to register for the event in a new tab on their browser. Once they had filled out their registration info, they then had to find their way back to your video to finish watching.

In a marketing world focused on reducing friction, this workflow just simply didn’t cut it. So, we redesigned it! Now you can promote your Eventbrite events right from within your video — without interrupting the viewing experience.

How does it work? Well, this integration allows the event form to display as an overlay on your video , making it easy for your audience to register right on the spot. No extra tabs. No extra clicks. And no more interrupting the viewer experience. (Phew! What a relief.)

It looks really slick and we can’t wait to see the results you get with this integration:

But, here’s the kicker — we didn’t only change the registration experience. With this new feature, you now also have the ability to control when your viewers see your event invite. When someone registers for your event, you’ll receive a confirmation notification, just like you normally would. We believe that having a smoother registration process will bring in even more attendees to your next event, so get ready to party!

How to get started

To share your latest event using the Eventbrite integration, just simply:

  1. Log in to your Wistia account.
  2. Navigate to the Media page of the video you’d like to update.
  3. Open the Customize panel.
  4. Click “Eventbrite."
  5. Enter your Eventbrite event ID.
  6. Determine the promotion time and details.
  7. Click “Save!”

Try out these new updates today

It may sound cliche, but we wouldn’t be here without our fans (er, users). We value all of the feedback you provide and hope that these updates will help make your lead generation experience more customizable, and ultimately, more fruitful!

The best part is because these new updates are available for all plans, you can start playing around with them today!
