Spice is in the air, pumpkins are on the shelves, spooky decorations are on the lawn, and new features are popping out of your Wistia account!
Ready for all treats and no tricks? Let’s hop right in.
New user role
Do you want to give your brilliant creative team access to all the creation tools in your Wistia account — but not your billing and account settings? We think you’ll like the new Standard User role!
Any user in this role can go full steam ahead in the creation realm — creating, editing, and publishing videos and even hosting live events — while leaving account management and billing securely in your hands.
Updates that make sharing videos easier
Branded social clips
We took our AI video highlights tool one step further. Now it can find social media-worthy clips in your videos and polish them with branded templates, colors, and stylized captions — without you having to lift a finger.
And the best part? You can preview and export those social clips right from the media page without bringing them into the editor.
To try it out, upload a video (if you haven’t already) and head to the media page.
Caption and language preferences that stick
We’ve all been there: You turn on captions and select a language before watching a video, only for those settings to disappear in the next video. That’s why we’ve given our video player the ability to remember viewers’ caption and language settings for all the videos on the same website!
Now your viewers only need to set their preferences once, and we’ll keep it consistent for their entire viewing experience — as long as they’re not in private browsing and don’t clear their cookies. Just enable captions and choose the desired languages for your videos, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Audience links
Sharing just got simpler — and a lot more tailored — with audience links. Now you can create multiple unique links to track views by specific groups. Plus, you can set an expiration date for each link to control how long each audience can access the video.
Want to run a competition to see which salesperson gets the most views on the new product video? Easy. How about setting unique expiration dates for courses based on where you share them? Not a problem.
Just hit the “Share” button for your video, select “Generate audience links,” and send those links out into the world (or just a small portion of it)!
New live event permissions
We know how much work goes into a webinar, from setting up the registration page to delivering the content and responding in the chat. It takes a whole team to make it happen.
That’s why we’ve made it easier to bring collaborators into your event without giving them access to your entire content library.
Just add a standard or limited user to your account and invite them to collaborate on a live event — and only that event. They’ll be able to do everything an account owner can, including branding, hosting, customizing, analyzing, and even inviting more collaborators.
Once the event ends, they can’t access your account anymore, and you can breathe easy knowing that the rest of your content stays just as it is.
Rounded player corners by default
When we rolled out the option to round your player’s corners last year, so many of you loved it that we made it the default for all new users!
We’re big fans of this feature ourselves — we even made a song about it:
That’s a wrap for October!
It may be that spooky season, but the only thing scary about these updates is how powerful they are. Give ‘em a whirl today!
