Like a well-lit Tinder photo, people (and businesses) can be misleading. That’s why it’s super important to show your potential hires what it’s actually like to work at your company. What does the office look like? Does the culture seem like a good fit? Are the people nice and friendly? These are all valid questions that video can help answer.

Cultural crowdsource

Put your coworkers to work with a simple crowdsourced company culture video. Crowdsourcing works particularly well if your company is made up of more than a handful of people (we’ll talk more about other videos that are great for small businesses later). Most of these clips were shot by Wistians themselves with whatever recording device they could get their hands on. These homemade shots pair well with the video’s core message, which is all about being your true self at work.

Crowdsourced videos are arguably the most human of them all — after all, you’re giving your peers the power to tell their own stories, which is about as real as it gets.

Our video producer, Chris, made sure to emphasize how simple the shots could be when asking teammates to contribute, which not only encouraged participation, but also helped people understand the video’s purpose. In an email to the team, he wrote:

“Our goal is to have this video feel as authentic as possible. Ask a friend or family member for help, use a GoPro, or just put your phone in selfie mode.”

What better way to learn about a business than to hear from the folks who actually work there! Emma, an email marketing provider, created the “Life at Emma” video series to do just that.
